Two sentenced to 20 years imprisonment each for rape

Two suspects aged 20 and 28-years have been convicted and sentenced to 20 years in jail. 

This is after they raped a woman while she was on her way home from a nearby shop at Amanzimtoti. 

Major Thulani Zwane said it is alleged the woman was walking with his brother when they were approached by the two suspects who forced the woman to a nearby bushes where she was raped by the two suspects.

“Later a case of rape was opened at Amanzimtoti police station through investigation the two suspects were arrested and charged for rape.” Zwane added.

The Provincial Commissioner lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni welcomed the sentence saying this will send a strong message to the would-be rapists that they will be caught and arrested.
