The National Union of Metalworkers has expressed its disappointment and disgust with management at Petra Diamonds for creating a special form to force NUM members at the mine to resign.
NUM Acting Spokesperson Livhuwani Mammburu
said currently there are 253 of its members still working at the mine and the
Department of Mineral Resources is facilitating the proposed
retrenchments.
Mammburu said we view this matter seriously
and this is an onslaught on NUM for refusing to be part of the retrenchment
process at Helam Mine.
“So the NUM will remain unshaken and we
will not be intimated by Petra Diamond” Mammburu added.
