A three-year-wage agreement has been signed by the National Union of Mineworkers and De Beers.  This follows negotiations which started in July this year.

The agreement includes for this year a 9% increase for B band bargaining unit employees and 9% for CL band bargaining unit employees.

By 2016 the housing allowance would have increased to R562.

NUM Acting National Spokesperson Livhuwani Mammburu said the NUM wishes to express gratitude to its members and De Beers for the manner in which they handled the negotiations.

Mammburu said the agreement is a three-year agreement effect from the 1st of May 2014 unit 30 April 2017.
