An accident late last night has left three
people dead and eight others injured after two bakkies collided on the N14
outside Upington.
ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said when they
arrived on scene, they were greeted by a mass casualty incident. Two bakkies
lay mangled on the side of the road.
“On assessment, paramedics discovered that
three men had unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.
Six other occupants from the vehicles
sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical. Paramedics had to provide
the patients with advanced life support.” Meiring added.
He also said the patients were treated for
their injuries, they were transported to Doctor Harry Surtie Hospital for further
medical treatment
In another accident a pedestrian was
knocked over by a light delivery vehicle on Rondebult Road near Heidelberg Road in Germiston.
Netcare 911 Spokesperson Santie Steinmann
said upon their arrival on they found a five year old boy in a critical condition
after he was knocked over by the light delivery vehicle
The Netcare1 Helicpter was activated to airlift the critically injured boy to hospital for the urgent medical care that he required
Exact details to the cause of the accident
are unknown at this stage but local authorities are at he scene for further
investigations.
