The Congress of the people has welcomed the fact that the suspended National Commissioner of Police has broken her silence at long last.

Commissioner Riah Phiyega is asserting that the report by Minister’s Reference Group was unlawful and unethical, she is consulting her lawyers on this report.

She claims that the reference group did not abide by the cherished principle of audi alterm partem, the commissioner is preparing to go to court to put the record straight and let the country know the truth.

COPE spokesperson Dennis Bloem added that “COPE fully agrees with the commissioner that a court of law is the best place to uncover the truth as she is determined to clear her name.”
