One killed and eleven injured in taxi collision

A total of eleven people were injured and one person was killed in a collision that occurred on the corner of Rivonia and South Road in Johannesburg last night.

ER24 spokesperson, Pieter Rossouw said the collision involved a light motor vehicle as well as a taxi.

The circumstances of how the two vehicles collided are unknown, but it resulted in the taxi overturning on the road.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene they found that besides the deceased patient, all other injuries ranged from minor to moderate.” Rossouw said.

One patient was entrapped in the taxi and was extricated, treated and transported by ER24 to Helen Joseph Hospital.

The remaining patients were transported by other medical services on scene.

The cause of the collision remains unknown, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
