A man was critically injured this morning following a collision at the Oxford and Vine Road intersection in Randburg.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring reported that when ER24 paramedics along with other services arrived on scene they found the patient lying on the side of the road while his scooter lay in the middle of the road a few metres away.

On assessment paramedics found that the patient had sustained multiple injuries and was in a critical condition.

“Paramedics immediately begin their treatment and provided the critically injured patient with advanced life support. Once treated, the patient was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.” Meiring said.

It is understood that the patient was knocked off his scooter by a passing truck.

The driver of the truck fortunately did not sustain any injuries.

The cause is unknown but local authorities were on scene for further investigations, Meiring concluded.
