In a statement issued on Sunday, the Democratic
Alliance says, President Jacob Zuma should show leadership, and publicly insist
that the R4 billion VIP Jet be scrapped.
DA Shadow Minister of Defence and Military
Veterans, Kobus Marais says, in strained financial times, and with more
important priorities needing funding, the President cannot possibly need such
luxury. Marais…….
“We think it is a very difficult economic time
to even consider at this stage to procure a smart Jet of that nature for R4
billion rand plus we think it is out of touch with what South African’s require
on the ground and we believe that President should rather follow the example
set by Deputy President that if he’s plane is not good enough for him, then to
use commercial airline.”
