Three men died on the N1 before the Plattekloof Bridge in Cape Town when the bakkie they were travelling in overturned on Saturday afternoon.

The bakkie was pulling a trailer with a light motor vehicle on it.
It is suspected the driver lost control of the vehicle causing the trailer to sway from side to side.

This resulted in the bakkie and trailer overturning.

“When ER24 arrived on the scene they found that two of the passengers had already succumbed to their injuries and was declared dead on the scene.” ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw said.

“The other patient, believed to be the driver, was in a critical state and was rushed to Tygerberg Hospital for treatment. However, on arrival at the hospital his vital signs deteriorated and was declared dead at the hospital.” He added.
