Today the Western Cape Health MEC, Nomafrench Mbombo and the Transport and Public Works MEC, Donald Grant, will visit the construction site of the new Psychiatric building at Paarl Hospital.

In a statement issued, Coleen Smart, MEC Mbombo’s spokesperson says, the construction of the facility is a direct response to the need of a dedicated Psychiatric Ward at the hospital.

Smart explained that the department of Transport and Public works (DTPW) is responsible for the construction and the project team will show MEC Grant and MEC Mbombo around the construction site and provide a progress update.

“R35 million facility will feature a brand new 30 bed ward, day areas for living and rehabilitation, outdoor areas, consulting rooms and service areas.” Smart concluded.
