Authorities monitor CT's N2 after protest

Leonie Pretorius

1 July 2016

Police and traffic officials are maintaining high visibility along the N2 Highway near Borchards Quarry, following a protest earlier this morning.

The road has since been re-opened to traffic.

While there are no protesters to be seen at the moment, police vehicles have lined the highway to ensure that the road remains open.

The rubble and debris that blocked the highway earlier, has now been cleared.

Some Nyanga residents who are making their way to work this morning, say they don't know what the protest was about.

The City of Cape Town believes the demonstration was politically motivated.
