An accident this morning on the R67 between Ixopo and Richmond in KwaZulu Natal left two people dead and seventeen others injured. This is after a minibus overturned.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Santi Steinmann said when paramedics arrived on the scene and assessed the patients it was found that two people had tragically lost their lives and seventeen people sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

Steinmann said one of the people were entrapped in the vehicle and services had to make use of the Jaws of Life to extricate the injured patient from the vehicle.

Meanwhile in another accident seven people were left injured after a truck and a taxi collided on the N3 highway near Hillcrest in KwaZulu Natal.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found a taxi stationed on the side of the road.  When paramedics assessed the patients they found that seven occupants of the taxi had sustained minor injuries.

Meiring said the driver of the truck did not sustain any injuries.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
