A two-year-old bay is in a critical condition after he was burned by hot water at a residence in Botswoana Road in Vanderbijlpark.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived at the private residence and found the young patient lying on a bed in a critical condition.

Meiring said the mother sat next to her child, cooling him with cold water and cloths. On assessment, paramedics found that the patient had sustained burns over most of his body.

Meiring said the mother told paramedics that the child had pulled a pot of boiling water off the stove, causing the child to be doused in the scalding water.

“Paramedics provided the patient with advanced life support and transported him by the AER24 helicopter to a private Hospital in Johannesburg for urgent medical treatment Meiring added.
