One man has been killed and four others injured on Sunday afternoon when a light motor vehicle left the road and rolled multiple times off the R300 in the Delft area, Western Cape.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring reported ER24 paramedics, along with other services arrived on scene and found the light motor vehicle lying on it’s roof on the side of the road.

On assessment, paramedics found four patients lying around the vehicle, after they were ejected.

Another man lay trapped inside the vehicle.

One of the men that had been ejected from the vehicle was found to have already succumbed to his multiple, fatal injuries.

“Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead.” Meiring said.

Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the trapped man from his vehicle.

Once freed, paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support.

All the patients were thereafter transported to various hospitals for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations, Meiring concluded.
