The Western Cape Government
says, top agricultural employee will be announced at gala function on November
7 at Nederburg Wine Estate in Paarl.
Western Cape MEC of Economic Opportunities,
Alan Winde says, the final regional competitions took place over the past
month.
He says the province’s top
agri-professional is set to receive a cash prize and an overseas trip.
Over 6000 agriculture
employees have entered the competition since 2002.
MEC spokesperson Bronwynne
Jooste explained this year 1247 residents participated in the competition, a
20% increase from last year.
The Western Cape winner will
be announced at an awards ceremony in November.
The winners of the regional
competition play an important role in fodd security.
“I’d like to wish the
finalists well. They are excellent ambassadors for our agriculture sector.” MEC
Winde said.
