A man and a woman have been left critically injured this evening after a collision between a motorcycle and a bakkie on the R57 in Vanderbijlkpark.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring reported paramedics from ER24 Vanderbijlkpark branch responded to the scene, and on the arrival, found the motorcycle, and two passengers lying in the fast lane of the road.

On assements, paramedics found that both the man and woman had sustained severe injuries to their heads, chests and legs. Both patients were in a critical condition.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions, Meiring said.

Once treated, both patients were transported to Sebokeng Hospital for urgent treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations, Meiring concluded.
