A truck accident late this afternoon at Paul Kruger and Christiaan De Wet Road at Johannesburg West left six people injured and one critically.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found a large refuse truck lying on its side and five people were lying around the vehicle.

Meiring said the injuries of the five people ranged from moderate to minor and one man was trapped by his side with his legs under the vehicle.

“Rescue equipment had to be used to free the patient and once he was freed he was immediately transported to hospital for the urgent medical care that he needed” Meiring added.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
