A 30 year old man injured after wall collapsed in Claremont

ER24 paramedics responded to an incident scene late yesterday afternoon after a wall collapsed on a 30 year old man, at a residence on Laurier Road in Clairemont, Western Cape.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said When ER24 paramedics, as well as other services, arrived on scene they found the patient lying beneath a large wall.

Meiring added that Metro services had to close off the area to a allow paramedics and rescue workers to work safely. Emergency personnel worked to free the patient while paramedics began their treatment.

“Once freed from beneath the wall, paramedics provided the patient with advanced life support and thereafter transported him to Vincent Pallotti Hospital for further medical treatment.” Meiring said.

 
Meanwhile four people are injured after a four vehicle collision on the N1 near Beyers Naude in Johannesburg North.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the four vehicles stationed on the fast lane of the highway. One of the vehicles had been badly damaged.

 

“On assessment of the scene, paramedics discovered that one patient lay trapped inside his vehicle in a moderate condition. Two other patients from other vehicles sustained only minor injuries.

 
Rescue workers had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the patient before treatment could continue.” Meiring added

 
He also said Once freed, paramedics provided the patient with advanced life support and thereafter transported him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The remaining patients were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to nearby hospitals for further observations.

Exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
