Western Cape MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato says the Report-a-Cop; Reward-a-Cop campaign has achieved about 70% success rate.

The Policing Complaints Centre has received complaints mostly in Mitchell’s Plain, Kraaifontein, Delft, Kleinveli and the Cape Town Central Station.

The complaints had to do with policing service delivery issues.

Ministerial Spokesperson Ewald Botha said between January 2014 and September this year the centre has logged 516 complaints of which 33 were able to resolve immediately, while 68% of the remaining complaints were resolved between one or two weeks after receiving the complaint.

Meanwhile the complaints received vary in severity of adequate service delivery with 55% of the cases related to unacceptable behavior, 16.77% as a result of poor response by the police and 14.9% due to poor communication from the police.

“Minister Plato said it is great to see people of the province are using the opportunity to improve service delivery in their areas” Botha added.
