South Africa Municipal Workers Union in North West said it demands a public apology from the North West Premier Supra Mahomapelo for his unreasonable and unfounded statement, which insulted Samwu members in the eyes of communities.

The Midvaal Water Company sampled water from the area and found that there were no toxins or poison as alleged by the Premier.

National Media Officer Papikie Mohale said Premier wanted to swing public opinion in his favour with regards to the situation at the municipality.

Mohale said Samwu therefore requires that the Premier makes a public apology for his ridiculous and unfounded statement which seeks to defend characters of our members.

“Should the Premier fail to make such an apology we will institute a civil claim against the Premier” Mohale added.
