A multiple vehicle collision on the N12 near the Voortrekker Road in Alberton Johannesburg left two people dead and 54 others injured this morning.

This is after the brakes of the petrol tanker failed which caused the tanker to collide with multiple vehicles.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found multiple vehicles and car parts across the road.

Meiring said when assessing people they found that two people had been killed and 54 people injured, seven of them critically.

Meanwhile in another incident one person was injured after he was stabbed and another person died after he was knocked over by a car on John Vorster Driver in Pretoria this morning.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Santi Steinmann said reports from the scene indicate that the man was walking when he was attacked and stabbed.

Steinmann said during this incident a man who was crossing the road tragically lost his life after he was knocked over by a motor vehicle.  The injured man was treated on scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.

The exact details to the cause of the stabbing and accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
