The North Gauteng High Court on Thursday dismissed an urgent application filed by miners’ representative Advocate Dali Mpofu.

The United Democratic Movement has called this a mockery of justice.

Judge Joseph Raulinga said while the delay in lodging the application is justified, and that the matter is urgent, he has decided to dismiss it.

Miners who were injured and arrested during the Marikana Massacre have vowed not to return to the commission until the state agrees to cover their legal costs.

UDM Secretary General Bongani Msomi said the UDM take an exception that these people were killed by the police, further more justice is being made mockery by the murderous police in uniforms, who are having their bill footed by the state.

Msomi added that the state should be protecting the people, hence the UDM calls for the state to grant remediation and speedy justice for the affected families.
