The Food and Allied Workers Union says its members at Du Toit Group in the Western Cape have embarked on a strike.

Fawu General Secretary Katishi Masemola said the strike involves 1 033 workers, 600 high seasonal workers and 400 seasonal workers.

Masemola said the workers are demanding a single national bargaining forum between Fawu and Du Toit group.

“Our members in various areas have been on strike that includes in the Western Cape, the Du Toit group of company that is dealing with packing fruit and vegetables, supplying to various chain stores.” Masemola added.

He concluded by saying that the reason for the strike is that they want a single National bargaining forum between Fawu and Du Toit to know how to determine wages and working conditions.
