Department of Energy officials say the government has not signed a nuclear deal with any country and is still determining the procurement process.

This emerged during the department’s media briefing on Wednesday over the new nuclear build programme.

ACDP Cheryllyn Dudley said Russian nulear energy vendor Rosatom says the recent intergovernmental agreement between the Russia Federation and South Africa is merely a broad outline of what the company and Russia has to offer South Africa in the area of nuclear energy.

“The final procurement process would be decided on by the government after all the preparatory work had been done Dudley added.
