The Democratic Alliance says
it has took its rightful place in the Oudtshoorn council, as the Majority, and
unseated the African National Congress Mayor and Deputy Mayor who have clung
onto power unlawfully.
In a Council meeting, a motion
of no confidence in ANC Mayor Gordon April and his Deputy Vlancio Donson, was
passed by a majority.
The DA said, the people of
Oudtshoorn have suffered for far too long under poor ANC governance, wasteful
expenditure and corruption.
DA Western Cape Communications
Manager, Liza Albrecht said, the DA also indicated that Council will request
the provincial and national government to place Oudtshoorn under administration,
a lot of damage has been caused over the past 2 years by the ANC led
municipality.
“There is a lot of financial
mismanagement that needs to be rectified, service delivery needs to be restored
in Oudtshoorn and that is what the DA will do” Albrecht added.
