Pedestrian hit by vehicle in Pietermaritzburg in critical condition

A pedestrian has been left critically injured after he was knocked down by a vehicle on Alan Paton Avenue in Pietermaritzburg on Friday evening.

“ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on the scene and found a man believed to be about 40 years of age lying on the road." ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.

“He was assessed and found to have sustained critical injuries. He was treated on scene and transported to the Edenvale Hospital for further medical care. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.” Chitra added.

The reasons behind the incident are unknown. However local authorities were on scene for further investigations
