WC MEC Fritz visits old age home

Western cape MEC of social Development, Albert Fritz paid an oversight visit to 75 older people at the Vredendal Tehuis old age home in honor of International Older Persons day.

The department of social development is proud to be playing a leading role in implementing integrated services for the care, support and protection of older people.

Albert Fritz explained the department funded a total of 361 organizations which provides key services to older persons.

There is special focus on promoting a developmental approach to ageing which also seeks to keep older persons in their families and communities for as long as possible.

However the success of their interventions depends on continued partnerships with communities and citizens.

“Most importantly we need every individual to take responsibility for promoting the safety and well-being of the elderly in their communities.” Fritz concluded.
