Today the Western Cape education department said they seemed to be turning the tide on major incidents of vandalism at schools.
In 2010 113 serious cases were reported.
Last year the figure was dropped to 38.
The department’s spokesperson Bronagh Casey said that more than R2 million was spent on repairs by the department.
She added that the department’s emergency maintenance fund helps repair vandalism damages of 66 schools to the value of R2, 1 million.
