Western Cape Premier Helen Zille on
Tuesday launched the latest flagship project of the 110 percent Green campaign
called the Better Living Challenge.
The aim of the campaign is to
improve the living conditions of poor people in urban communities.
Zille announced the campaign at the
Smart Innovation Open Forum taking place in the province.
Spokesperson for the Premier Zak
Mbhele said that the challenge is a call for response and innovation from the
private sector players and anyone else interested to bring projects that bring
green innovation to housing problems that need solutions especially in informal
settlements and government subsidy houses.
“We are hoping people will come up
with innovations and design features that apply inside houses, outside houses,
in communities, with the building of houses so that we can really address the backlog
of houses in the province” Mbhele added.
