About 90 taxi drivers from Mitchell’s Plain and Khayelitsha are receiving business development training.

This is part of the City of Cape Town’s project to provide the taxi drivers with greater business skills and knowledge.

Mayor Patricia de Lille said she is pleased to see that members of the different taxi associations have welcomed the training with optimism and excitement.

Mayor Spokesperson Zara Nicholson said the training represents an investment of R39 million with 90 taxi operators currently part of the training.

“The capacitation training consists of four courses and they are entry-level orientation to South African company law and foundations of corporate governance. Introduction to management, with specific focus on planning, organising, leading, control and people management. As well as an introduction to public transport planning and management. Introduction to bus operating contract models and the management of scheduled transport operations,” Nicholson added.
