An ATM bombing incident this morning at a shopping centre in Pinetown, KwaZulu Natal left one person critically injured.

It is believed that the woman was injured when she fell from running away following the explosion.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics, along with the SAPS, were alerted to the incident, and on their arrival at the centre, found that a large crowd of people had gathered at a nearby shop.

Meiring added that ER24 paramedics were ushered to a nearby patient and, on their assessment, discovered a female patient with minor injuries to one of her legs.

“Paramedics treated the patient for her injuries and thereafter transported her to St Augustines Hospital for further treatment. Fortunately no other injuries were sustained in the incident.” Meiring added.

The exact details of the cause of the bombing incident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
