The DTI to strategies on banning online gambling

The Department of Trade and Industry will be hosting a seminar on online Gambling in the country in Pretoria next week.

The seminar will focus on the policy position of prohibition of online gambling in South Africa, the social and harmful effects of online gambling in the country, practical strategies to prohibit it and approaches to effectively enforce the ban on online gambling.

The departments Bongani Lukhele said it is important to note that the seminar follows a document that was published by the Department of Trade and Industry which at the moments it has been put for public comment until the 5th of July.

Stakeholders will be sharing ideas on online gambling which by the way still remains banned in South Africa, so they will be sharing ideas on how this will go about whether continuing with ban, Lukhele added.
