Western Cape MEC of Education Debbie Schafer visited Grade 12 winter school and WCED Safe Schools holiday programmes yesterday in order to check in on the youth during the winter break.

Schools across Cape Town are hosting programmes to keep the youth active during the time off.

Ministerial Spokesperson Jessica Shelver said it is important to keep our learners safe and engaged over the holiday period. Each district arranged a safe holiday programme according to the need in the district concerned.

Shelver said MEC Schafer also visited the safe school holiday programme Edward Primary School.

“Educational programmes on offer include subjects such as peer pressure, moral value, substance abuse, HIV/Aids and other important topics such as gangsterism and bullying” Shelver added.
