A Benoni Baboon has been taken to an animal shelter for rehabilitation.
The animal roamed the streets for more than a week before it was darted and captured by a veterinarian on Friday.
Officials believe that the baboon escaped from a house near Alphen Park on Gauteng’s East Rand.
A facility for indigenous animals called FreeME is currently looking after the animal.
