Alan Winde the MEC of the Western Cape Finance said the local economy is expected to grow by four percent between 2012 and 2016.
Today he delivered his 2012-2013 budget speech in Cape Town.
Around R40 billion was set aside, with the majority going to education and healthcare.
Winde said the local economy has improved since the recession.
Winde said the Western Cape is set to enjoy growth over the next few years.
