The Congress of South African Trade Union has condemned the brutal rape and murder of an 18-year-old girl in Ventersdorp last week Friday.

It is alleged that she was murdered because she was a lesbian.  Cosatu Spokesperson Patrick Craven said it is outrages that we still witness such shocking acts in this progressive legislation.

The teenager was allegedly raped and then strangled with a wire and a shoelace.

Craven said it is good news that some one has been arrested already and if he should be found guilty an exemplary sentence must be passed.
