Western Cape MEC of Education Debbie Schafer has raised her concerns regarding an article about an alleged rape game that learners are playing at school.
Allegedly the report claims that the boys chase after the girls and pretend to rape them.
In a statement MEC Schafer said if this game is true then this reflects a serious problem with our society.

Ministerial Spokesperson Jessica Shelver said the Western Cape Department has received no report from the public or from any of our schools engaging in this game.

Shelver said the department has now launched a full investigation into the matter and district officials will visit the schools and engage with principals and learners on this matter.

“Rape is not a game the levels of sexual abuse in our country are at an unacceptable high. The WCED will do whatever we can to educate our learners that this kind of behaviour is just not on. We also appeal to parents and institutions to educate children at home and after school about the differences between right or wrong.” Shelver added.
