An accident late last night on Voortrekker road in Salt River left fourteen people injured.

This is after the taxi they were travelling in collided into the back of a truck.

ER24 Spokesperson Werner Vermaak said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found the occupants with injuries ranging from scrapes and bruises.

Vermaak said the driver of the taxi sustained a serious leg fracture and he was stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital with the other injured occupants.

Meanwhile in another accident on Rustenburg Road in Victory Park late last night twenty-five people were left injured when a taxi collided into the side of a bus.

When paramedics arrived on the scene they found the taxi wedged into the side of the road, and the majority of the occupants were sitting on the side of the road waiting for medical treatment.

ER24 Spokesperson Werner Vermaak said at this stage it is still not clear how many occupants were in both vehicles as some people left before paramedics arrived on the scene.

Vermaak said two people were trapped in front of the taxi and had to be rescued.  All the occupants who were on scene were taken to hospital for further medical care.

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
