Southern Clothing and Textile Workers’ Union members in the cotton textile sector have confirmed that five of the employer associations have finalised their new mandate seeking process.

This as over 3 000 members of the cotton and textile sector embarked on a strike three weeks ago demanding an 8.75%wage increase and a further 2.5 % on peripheral rights issues.

Sactwu’s National Coordinator for the cotton textile sector Christopher Soetsane said the trade union's demand all along has been at 9% when we reached that lock the union was at 7% then they moved to 7.5% they rejected that lock.

“They presented a revised offer of 8% we think that offer which represented by employer too mid actually level of our mandate.” Seotsane added.
