The Democratic Alliance is calling on Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga to immediately deal with the critical shortage of desks in Eastern Cape schools.

Over 200 000 learners are affected by the lack of furniture.

DA MP of Basic Education Desiree van der Walt said every learner should have a fair chance at accessing quality education with the necessary infrastructure.

Desiree Van Walt said President Jacob Zuma in his speech during June emphasized that every school by August 2014 would have been fixed but nothing has been done so far in that province.
