The over 3 000 workers of the cotton textile sector of the South African Clothing and Textile Workers Union have reached a wage settlement with employers.
The workers embarked on a strike
three weeks ago demanding an increase of 8.75%.
Sactwu National Coordinator for the cotton
textile sector Christopher Soetsane said workers returned to work on Tuesday
and the whole process was facilitated by the CCMA.
Soetsane said the entire membership
has accepted the 8.5% wage increase in 2014 and 8.5% wage increase in 2015.
“This agreement brings to an end a
four-week long strike, so therefore we are expecting to sign an agreement
towards the end of this week” Soetsane added.
