Security guard shot dead during a robbery in Mitchell’s Plain

A 38-year-old security guard was on Monday shot dead in an apparent robbery in Mitchell’s Plain Polka Square in the town centre. 

Captain FC van Wyk said the security guard was allegedly shot while he was chasing two suspects who had apparently robbed a jewellery store at the town centre. 

Van Wyk said the suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewellery in a Toyota corolla.

“Cases of murder and business robbery has been opened for investigation. Anyone with information or the whereabouts of the suspects is kindly requested to contact the Investigative Officer Detective Warrant Officer Derrick April on 082 777 8076 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.”Van Wyk added.
