The Democratic Alliance calls on the MEC of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba to put an end to Inter-Ministerial team set up to review the new Visa regulations and institute a substantive and wholescale review of these regulations that seeks to assess both their sustainability and effect.

DA Shadow MEC of Tourism, James Vos said the ANC government and then tourism terminating twins, Minister Derek Hanekom and Minister Malusi Gigaba are in denial.

Vos said the recent tourism arrival statistics proves this point, overseas arrivals are down by 7% from last year to this year and therefore it is a huge cause for concern that these new Visa regulations are in fact seriously impacting in our country’s economy.

“For every twelve international arrivals, one job is created in our country and therefore the DA will continue to fight these travel regulations.” Vos concluded.
