The City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management will be on high alert this long weekend to ensure a safe and enjoyable Easter Weekend for people visiting Cape Town.
Disaster Risk management spokesperson Wilfred Solomns-Johannes says the City will increase law enforcement on roads, beaches, resorts, as well as at various other popular destinations in the city.
“Road blocks will be held across the city as part of the ongoing enforcement strategies, which are aimed at reducing the number of accidents on our roads.
“Law Enforcement Services will also be combating the illegal use of alcohol and drugs this weekend, with a special focus on drunken driving. Officers will have a zero-tolerance approach and drunken drivers will be arrested,” said Solomons-Johannes.
Any emergency, including medical, crime, fire and traffic, can be reported to Public Emergency Call Centre on 107 from a Telkom line. Cell phone users need to dial 021 480 7700.
