Metro police say Hanover Park was a buzz of activity again as they continued their “Operation Choke” with the focus on combating drug related crime on Friday.

Spokesperson Nowellen Petersen says this follows a tip off from the public about possible drug dealing in the area.

“We executed a search warrant in Athburg Walk. We searched the premises and confiscated 331 units of Heroin,” he said.

Three suspects were arrested for drug dealing.

Peterson adds during the same operation seven motorists were also arrested for drunk driving in the Philippi and Hanover Park and one in Milnerton.

In Kuilsriver the dog unit assisted police members where three premises were searched for drugs.

“Mandrax tablets were found and confiscated and one suspect was arrested,” said Peterson.

In Cape Town another suspect was arrested for the possession of dagga,” said Peterson.

On Saturday night four suspects were arrested for drunk driving in Lansdowne and 788 traffic offences were recorded.

“181 fines were issued for unlicensed motor vehicles and 275 for unlicensed drivers whilst 113 fines were recorded for safety belts,” said Peterson.
