Road accident claims life of deputy minister

It is reported that deputy Health Minister Dr Molefi Sefularo has died in a road accident.

The crash happened this afternoon outside Pretoria on the M-4 highway towards Rustenburg.

It is understood Sefularo crashed his car into the middle island of the highway.

As far as could be established, the deputy minister was alone in the car.

Sefularo (52), a trained medical doctor served as a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly since 2004.

He served in various parliamentary Committees including Trade and Industry, Transport, Foreign Affairs, and Health.

He is a former Member of the North West Provincial Legislature from 1994 to 2004, and Deputy Chairperson of the ANC of North West.

As a former Member of the Executive Council (MEC), he was responsible for the Reconstruction and Development Program, Transformation, Governance and Administration, Health, Social Development and Broadcasting amongst others.

Departmental spokesperson Fidel Hadebe refused to confirm the accident saying “a media briefing will be conducted with relevant details”.
