The Western Cape Government today said it is committed to clear out the public service of fraud and criminal misconduct.
The Forensic Investigation Unit and auditing firm Deloitte has been tasked to root out corruption within the Provincial Government.
The project began in December and has so far been hailed a success.
Western Cape Premier Helen Zille`s Spokesperson Zak Mbhele said that police assisted the FIU in arresting eight people in George on Friday.
Mbhele said that those arrests were the second set of arrests that actually happened in George.
Mbhele further said the arrests relate to individuals who were caught with resources or assets of the Health Department illegally.
