The National Union of Mineworkers has reached a three-year wage deal with Samancor.

The wage agreement which will cover all Samancor mine operations in Rustenburg will also cover other conditions of employment, including medical aid, travelling rate, salary scales, job grades, allowances and skills.

NUM Chief Negotiator at Samancor Ecliff Tantsi the wage agreement ranges on the mines between 14% starting with A band and 10.75 for free falls.

“For Smelters it’s ranging from level 1 between 11% and the C upper 10% and we strongly believe that this is a good agreement under the circumstances in the mining industry.” Tantsi added.
