Eleven suspects have been arrested
following a looting incident at a shopping mall in Evaton in the early hours
this morning, police said.
Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel
Lungelo Dlamini said:
“More arrests could
follow as police continue to search for the stolen goods in the area of Evaton. The
looting followed an illegal service delivery protest by the community who had
earlier barricaded the roads. The extent of damage and stolen goods have not yet
been verified. It is believed that
criminal elements took advantage of the situation and broke into several shops
at the mall, gaining entry through the roof.”
Dlamini said the shops affected
include Cash Build, Ackermans, Bradlows, PEP and a motorspares shop.
