Protesting University of Cape Town students are continuing attempts to shut down academic activity on campus.

This comes despite UCT management saying it's committed to proceeding with classes this week.

Six protesters were arrested earlier today for disrupting a lecture. The group of about 150 protesters has split up.

Smaller groups are now roaming across campus, chanting and trying to get into buildings.

A few students have gone to Mowbray police station where the six arrested students are believed to be held.
